4B Economic Development Board
Certain Cities may establish 4B Economic Development Boards under Texas State Statutes. 4B boards are authorized to expend funds not only for economic development projects but also on specific projects that improve the quality of life. This includes sports and parks improvements and expansions.
4B funds come from a ½ cent sales tax. Expenditure of the funds requires the approval of both the 4B board and the City Council. In the past few years 4B has funded the following projects; Quail Run Park improvements, Downtown Park improvements, the downtown streetscape improvements, and improvements to the ball fields and ball park. Most of these improvements would not have been possible without 4B funds.
