Financial Transparency

Accountability and financial transparency are the foundation of a well-managed and open government. The City of Sanger has made government transparency a top priority.

The City of Sanger's financial policies set forth the basic framework for the fiscal management of the City. These policies were developed within the parameters established by applicable provisions of the Texas Local Government Code and the Sanger City Charter. The policies are intended to assist the City Council and city staff in evaluating current activities and proposals for future programs. The policies are to be reviewed annually and modified to accommodate changing circumstances or conditions.

City of Sanger Adopted Tax Rate (2023-2024)

The following statement is required by Texas Tax Code Section 26.05 (b) (2): 

The City of Sanger adopted a tax rate that will raise more taxes for maintenance and operations than last year's tax rate. The tax rate will effectively be raised by 7.45 percent and will raise taxes for maintenance and operations on a $100,000 home by approximately $38.88.

House Bill (HB) 1378 Documents

The 84th Legislature passed HB 1378 to increase the transparency of local government debt. Under Local Government Code §140.008, political subdivisions, including counties, cities, school districts, junior college districts, special purpose districts, and other subdivisions of state government, must annually compile their debt obligation data from the preceding fiscal year. The City of Sanger has opted to report it to the Comptroller of Public Accounts Website for posting.
