Jury Duty

Please contact the court at 940.458.7131 twenty-four (24) hours before your scheduled time to verify that the trial is still scheduled.  You MUST report for jury services unless you (1) claim an exemption;  or (2) are disqualified.

Exemption

A Person May Claim an Exemption from Jury Duty if that Person:

• Is over 75 years of age
• Has legal custody of a child/children under 15 years of age and jury service would require leaving the child without adequate supervision
• Is a student of a public or private secondary school
• Is enrolled and in attendance at an institution of higher learning
• is the primary care taker of an invalid who is unable to care for himself

These exemptions are not mandatory.

If you wish to claim an exemption, you must mail proof of your reason to the Municipal Court.

What to Expect

• when you arrive, check in at the clerk window
• submit your completed juror questionnaire to the clerk
• after check-in you will be seated in the court room
• no electronic devices allowed in the court room
• the bailiff will screen you before entering the court room
• if selected, you will hear a single Class C Misdemeanor case
